1oz Gold Coin 2022 Australian Emu - Perth Mint

Celebrating Australia's largest bird, the Emu, each coin is struck by The Perth Mint from 1oz of 99.99% pure gold and issued as legal tender under the Australian Currency Act 1965.

The Perth Mint will release no more than 5,000 of the Australian Emu 2022 1oz Gold Bullion Coin.

The coin’s reverse depicts a mother and baby emu in an outback landscape. Also included is the inscription ‘AUSTRALIAN EMU’, The Perth Mint’s traditional ‘P’ mintmark, the weight and fineness, and the 2022 year-date.The coin’s obverse bears the Jody Clark effigy of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II and the monetary denomination.

Each coin’s reverse includes a security feature in the form of a micro-laser engraved letter within the design. It is only detectable under a magnifying glass.

The Australian Emu 2022 1oz Gold Bullion Coin is presented in an individual acrylic capsule.

Australia’s largest bird, the emu cannot fly, but its powerful legs can propel it across the continent’s dry plains at speeds up to 50 kilometres an hour. Emus’ primitive feathers, which resemble coarse hair, help them survive the extreme changes in temperature that can be experienced in the Australian outback.

The Perth Mint is Australia’s leading precious metal refiner accredited by the LBMA. Backed by the Western Australian Government, The Perth Mint has produced the official bullion coin program since 1987. The Perth Mint also produces a large range of high quality gold and silver bars. All Perth Mint gold products are LBMA accredited and refined to 99.99% purity (= 24 carat) and all silver products are refined to 99.9% purity. Ainslie Bullion is a Primary Bullion Distributor for Perth Mint.

Coins are a popular choice of bullion given their legal tender status (Government backing of the coin and its metal content), often smaller in size (making for easier disposal in the event of large price increases), international recognition (no fuss tradability overseas) and portability. Another common advantage is mintage limits on many government minted coins meaning a “collectable” premium can often be realised. Caution should be exercised in buying coins over bars for your Super as they can be classified as a collectable and need special storage. Refer to the ATO or your advisor for more information. Coins can make for the perfect gift as you can match the year or Lunar Year to the recipient to celebrate an event (eg Christening, 18th, 21st, Anniversary).
